The Game Developers Conference® (GDC) is the world’s largest professionals-only game industry event. Presented every spring in San Francisco, it is the essential forum for learning, inspiration, and networking for the creators of computer, console, handheld, mobile, and online games.
The GDC attracts over 17,000 attendees, and is the primary forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry. The GDC is produced by the Think Services Game Group, a division of United Business Media, LLC.
The most innovative companies in the world exhibit at the GDC Expo demonstrating the tools developers use to create the games that will be on store shelves two to three years from now.
The 10th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards are the premier accolades for peer-recognition in the digital games industry, celebrating creativity, artistry and technological genius. Industry professionals from around the world are nominated for the awards, free of charge. Gamasutra members vote on the finalists, ensuring that the recipients reflect the community's opinions. The awards will take place Thursday, March 11, 2009 in the Esplanade Ballroom in Moscone South.

The 12th Annual Independent Games Festival serves to encourage and reward innovation in independent games. The independent game development community plays an important role in supplying new game ideas and concepts, and disseminating them throughout the larger community of developers. They continue to move the industry in new directions.
