One Laptop per child game design challenge

enter by Friday, march 2 to win an xo laptop!

The 2007 Game Developers Conference (GDC) is proud to partner with One Laptop per Child (OLPC) to present a game design challenge.

Simply provide a 100 word description of your game design idea and submit by 3/2/07!

The primary mission of the OLPC movement is to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment and express themselves, by ensureing that every school-aged child in the lesser-developed parts of the world owns their own personal laptop designed for "learning learning."

OLPC has designed the XO, an ultra-low-cost, low-power, mesh-enabled,
rugged laptop, running a set of free and open-source tools. The XO will be distributed to children in partner countries including Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Libya, Nigeria, and Rwanda in the coming year.

Through this contest, two XO computers will be awarded to the best ideas
for games developed for this platform; with particular attention given to
games that make use of the laptop's special features -- its wireless mesh,
human power, sunlight-readable display, and ebook or rotated-screen modes.

Only registered conference attendees qualify to enter, and you must be present to win.

Judges: The OLPC Game Design Challenge will be judged by the following industry insiders.

Samuel Klein - Director of Content, One Laptop per Child
Kurt Squire - Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Dave Edery - Worldwide Games Portfolio Planner, Xbox Live Arcade
