One Laptop per child game design challenge

To register to attend the Game Developers Conference - March 5-9, 2007 at the Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco, California. You can then submit your game design proposal along with your name, company, address and email address below. The contest begins Tuesday, February 13, 2007. All entries must be received on or before 11:59pm on Friday, March 2, 2007. JUDGING CRITERIA: Each entrant must supply a 100 word description of their game design idea which may be accompanied by an optional sketch or screenshot. The judges will be looking for game design ideas with particular attention given to games that make use of the laptop's special features -- its wireless mesh, human power, sunlight-readable display, and ebook or rotated-screen modes. NOTIFICATION: The winning game design idea will be determined by a panel of judges from CMP Media LLC, ONE Laptop PER Child and/or its designees on or about Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The judges may request additional information from any of the entrants prior to making a determination. The decision of the Judges is final. The winners of the OLPC Game Design Challenge at GDC07will be notified in person at the Game Developers Conference on Wednesday, March 7 at 9:00 to 10:00am, Room 132 North Hall. Entrants must be present to win. The Contest is sponsored by CMP Media LLC, 600 Community Drive, Manhasset NY 11030 and One Laptop Per Child, P.O. Box 425087 , Cambridge, MA 02142 U.S.A. ("Sponsors"). PRIZES: - Two (2) Prizes: One (1) XO Laptop Each Approximate Value of Each Prize: $150.00 US Dollars Approximate Total Value of All Prizes: $300.00 US Dollars The prizes will be awarded to the winners. In the event of unavailability of any of the stated prizes, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute items of equal or greater value. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. Taxes are the sole responsibility of winners. Winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, liability release and grant permission to use his/her name and likeness for advertising and promotion (without further compensation to the winners) within 21 days of notification or an alternate winners will be selected. ( Tennessee residents need not complete and return a publicity release.) ELIGIBILITY: Contest open to registered conference attendees of the 2007 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA who are 18 years or older and submit a game design idea. Employees of CMP Media LLC, One Laptop per Child and/or their affiliates, advertising, promotion and production agencies and members of their immediate families (including spouse, parents, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, step-children, step-parents and in-laws) or those with whom they are domiciled are not eligible. Contest is governed by the laws of the United States. Contest void where prohibited or restricted by law. The use of any automated devices in connection with this promotion is prohibited. Registrations made on the Internet will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. In the event of a dispute, CMP Media LLC may confirm and require proof that the registrant is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the registration. LIABILITY/TERMS AND CONDITIONS: By entering, participants release CMP Media LLC, One Laptop Per Child and their officers, employees, directors, agents and affiliates with respect to the use of the prize awarded herein, agree to be bound by these rules, represent that the entered game design consists entirely of Entrant’s own original work or of work to which Entrant has all necessary rights and consent to the use of their names and likeness for advertising and/or promotional and/or marketing purposes without additional compensation. (A Tennessee resident consents to the use of his name and likeness only if such Tennessee resident expressly consents to such use.) CMP Media LLC is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry of third party information including, but not limited to technical malfunctions, human error, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof, third party entry materials that have been tampered with, or third party mail in entries that are illegible, late, lost, damaged, postage due or misdirected.
