Paul Steed To Keynote Game Career Seminar in Place of David Jaffe
Industry veteran Paul Steed, creator of Wing Commander & Quake, will Keynote Friday's Game Career Seminar from 10:30-11:30am. Paul will be presenting a talk on his rise through the game industry in place of David Jaffe, who will be absent for personal reasons.
Session Description:
Paul Steed wants to give you advice on getting into the game industry and
staying there. Over the past 17 years, 19 games and 8 companies he's gone
from artist to entrepreneur. Becoming a game industry 'celebrity' isn't
rocket science - you have to have talent and a good game or 3 to show it
off. Then you give talks, write books and generally share your experiences
with others. The real trick is staying known, staying relevant and staying
excited about what you do. Our little 'game industry that could' has become
the juggernaut that won't be stopped. Ambition, hard work, perseverance,
luck and shameless self-promotion - it's all part of the deal. If you're
ready to get some tips on how to get yourself on a stage, survive crunch
mode, start your own company or even to teach a bartender how to make a
Washington Apple, this talk is for you.
