In the wake of record-breaking attendance, more than 130 speakers and over 75 exhibitors and sponsors in 2013, GDC Europe is returning to Cologne, Germany this summer and today is the day to register early at a discounted rate.
Organizers of the Game Developers Conference announced today that early registration for GDC Europe 2014 has officially opened, and there’s no better place to find the essential pan-European perspective of game development and business trends currently happening throughout the continent.
Organized by UBM Tech Game Network, the event, now in its sixth year, will run Monday through Wednesday, August 11-13 at the Cologne Congress-Centrum Ost in Cologne, Germany.
Register by July 16 and save 200 euros on an All Access Pass. In addition, this year marks the GDC Europe debut of the Student Pass, a more affordable alternative to the All Access Pass created specifically for qualified students interested in learning and networking at GDC Europe 2014.
The Student Pass is available only to verifiable full-time students (9 hours graduate or 12 hours undergraduate) at an accredited college or university. Students must provide a Valid University ID and proof of full-time status.
GDC Europe continues to serve the pan-European game industry by gathering the world’s leading game development professionals to discuss current trends across platforms and industry disciplines. The 2013 event, which hosted a record number of nearly 2,250 attendees, included highlights such Oculus VR co-founders Palmer Luckey and Nate Mitchell discussing a path forward for better VR games, and Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 director Patrick Plourde’s debut of the new company’s upcoming JRPG Child of Light.
Industry veterans hosted panel discussions, lectures and talks including standouts like Vlambeer’s Rami Ismael talking about dealing with the pernicious problem of game cloning, as well as Quantic Dream’s David Cage speaking about the future of cinematic games and why developers must learn from the film industry.
