IGF Modding and Student Showcase Finalists Announced

IGFWe are pleased to announce the finalists in the 9th annual Independent Games Festival Mod Competition and Student Showcase. We've notched up the competition a bit this year: the Mod finalists are competing for the first-ever Best Mod award, with a $5000 cash prize, while the Student Showcase finalists are vying for the inaugural Best Student Game award and a $2,500 cash prize.

The winners will be announced at the IGF and Choice Awards ceremony, Wednesday, March 7, at GDC. The awards show is open to all GDC passholders and promises to include some memorable moments! Find out more on the GDC events page. All the finalists will be showcased at the IGF Pavilion on the GDC Expo floor, March 7-9.

The four winners of the IGF Modding Categories, which will compete for the 2007 Best Mod Award, are:

Best Singleplayer FPS Mod - Weekday Warrior mod for Half-Life 2, by Cut Corner Company Productions
Best RPG Mod - Darkness over Daggerford mod for Neverwinter Nights, by Ossian Studios
Best Multiplayer FPS Mod - Eternal Silence mod for Half-Life 2, by ES Team
Best Other Mod - Spawn of Deflebub mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, by Ludocraft
