Conference Associates

The volunteer application form for GDC 2010 will open in November 2009.

So your startup is "seriously under funded," you're a starving student, or you just can't imagine yourself at GDC without hundreds of your friends. Whatever the reason, you may still be able to attend this premiere event. Are you willing to earn your attendance by doing about 20 hours of work with a fantastic group of people? Apply to volunteer as a Conference Associate (CA)!

GDC 2009 runs from Monday morning, March 23rd, 2009 through Friday evening, March 27th, 2009. Conference Associates have pre-conference assignments and a required orientation dinner on Sunday, March 22nd, 2009. If you are accepted into the program, you are needed from the start of your Sunday assignments through the end of the conference on the evening of the 27th, so plan accordingly.

To apply: Simply fill-in the form and submit it. Our CA managers, Tim Brengle and Ian MacKenzie, will send you an e-mail receipt for your application in the days following. You will be notified if you are accepted (or not) for our elite force on or before January 28th, 2009. If you have not heard from them by the end of January 29th, 2009, or do not receive an application receipt confirmation e-mail, or have any comments or questions or concerns, please email Tim and Ian directly.

Please note: Applications will be accepted until the day before the orientation dinner. If your application is received after January 28th, all positions will have been filled and you will be given instructions about how to be added to the waiting list.

What are your benefits?

• Full "All Access" pass privileges when not on-duty

What kind of work does the job involve?

Challenging tasks (some might require advanced degrees) like:

• Guarding doors
• Monitoring conference sessions
• Checking badges at meals and special events
• Stuffing conference bags
• Data entry
...And much more!

You will still be responsible for (better not forget to plan for these!):

• Travel expenses to and from the conference.
• Hotel or housing expenses (though we will have a reduced pricing option for those wishing to share rooms with other CAs)
• Food expenses for any meals which are not normally provided to "All Access" pass holders

Just fill out the form and apply to be a GDC Conference Associate! If you make any mistakes or your information changes, simply resubmit this application and your new data will replace any received earlier.
