Come to GDC 2016 and attend a design postmortem of Darkest Dungeon

As the GDC 2016 lineup locks into place, organizers would like to highlight some more notable Design track talks you should know about ahead of the March conference.

Red Hook Studios cofounder Tyler Sigman will be there this year delivering what promises to be an insightful, engaging look at the making of the studio's flagship game. In "Darkest Dungeon - A Design Postmortem," Sigman will reveal the greatest design challenges that faced the Darkest Dungeon team -- and how they overcame it to create a critically acclaimed game.

What's more, Sigman plans to dive into the intricacies of developing a game in public, using Darkest Dungeon's journey through Steam's Early Access service as a prime example. Attendees will hear about the harrowing moments Red Hook had in making iterations to their game on the fly, in front of a broad community of Early Access players, and walk away with practical lessons they can apply to their own projects.

Elsewhere on the Design track of talks at GDC 2016 you'll find great sessions like "Beat It. A Retrospective of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" by Criterion games' James Svensson, Ubisoft's Jason VandenBerghe speaking about "Engines of Play: How Player Motivation Changes Over Time," and Psyonix design director Corey Davis' talk "Rocket League: The Road From Cult Classic to Surprise Success."

Plus, conference officials look forward to announcing many more GDC 2016 sessions spanning a diverse array of game industry issues in the months ahead. For now, don't miss the opportunity to save money by registering for the conference early -- the deadline to register for passes at a discounted rate is Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016.

GDC 2016 itself will take place March 14-18th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For more information on GDC 2016, visit the show's official website, or subscribe to regular updates via FacebookTwitter, or RSS.
