Reminder: GDC 2015 call for submissions closes tomorrow!

Would-be GDC speakers, take note: Conference organizers would like to remind you that the call for submissions to present Main Conference talks, roundtables, and panel sessions for Game Developers Conference 2015 ends tomorrow, Thursday, August 28 at 11:59 PM Pacific.
GDC GM Meggan Scavio has issued a call for more diversity at GDC, and that goes for speakers as well as attendees. GDC organizers are ready to field submissions from the best and brightest in the industry, so if you have a good idea for a GDC talk, now is the time to submit it.
In addition, some of the GDC Advisory Board members have shared some advice for pitching a GDC talk in an effort to help you in the submission process.

GDC Next adds talks on Shroud of the Avatar, Wooga's 'Hit Filter'

As August comes to a close, the organizers of GDC Next 2014 featuring ADC are excited to announce two more excellent talks that will take place at this year's November conference: Portalarium executive producer Starr Long will explain how and why developers should go about crowdfunding their next project, and Wooga exec Sebastian Kriese will reveal how his company's proven "Hit Filter" publishing strategy works.
GDC Next and ADC, which aim to highlight practical ways for developers to increase the creative and financial success of their projects, are taking place simultaneously on November 3rd-4th, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

GDC Next debuts talks from Halfbrick, LA's Glitch City

The GDC Next team continues to work with the best and brightest in the game industry to organize a great session lineup for GDC Next 2014 featuring ADC this November.

The video game industry is a remarkably diverse community, and the organizers and advisory board of the Game Developers Conference are striving to ensure that the 28th annual GDC is a forum which reflects that diversity.
As part of that ongoing effort, GDC organizers are pursuing a number of initiatives aimed at encouraging a broader variety of game industry professionals to attend and speak at the conference, which will be held from March 2nd through March 6th next year in San Francisco.
Doing so is critically important to the organizers of the conference; GDC is intended to be a safe, respectful place where developers can feel comfortable sharing knowledge with their peers across the industry. GDC GM Meggan Scavio reiterated this long-running mission in her recent call for speaker diversity at GDC 2015, and to further that mission we've put together a brief list of tips for people looking to propose a GDC talk.

GDC Next wants to know how you promote your games

In order to better understand the game industry before GDC Next 2014 featuring ADC, conference officials are polling game industry professionals about their opinions on contemporary game marketing across markets that grow more crowded every year.
The short survey is live now and seeks to capture data on how developers promote their games before, during and after development, as well as how they feel about the value of coverage by YouTubers, traditional press and the promotional divisions of platform holders.

Doing so is critically important to the organizers of the conference; GDC is intended to be a safe, respectful place where developers can feel comfortable sharing knowledge with their peers across the industry, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability or religion, and strictly enforces its Code Of Conduct.
You'd be hard-pressed to find someone more passionate about the issue than GDC general manager Meggan Scavio, who made time this week to answer some questions about her plans to improve diversity at GDC, why it's important to do so, and how you can help GDC organizers make the show a more diverse and representative conference.

Get ready: GDC Europe 2014 kicks off next week

The 2014 Game Developers Conference Europe kicks off next week, so we're taking a moment to highlight some of the events and guidelines you'll want to know about before you get to the show.
Advance online registration for next week's conference has now closed, but you can still register onsite at the registration desks in the Congress-Centrum Ost Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. The registration area is open for varying lengths of time from Sunday through Wednesday, March 10-13, and you can find the exact hours on the GDC Europe 2014 Registration page.

Hi everyone, and welcome again to the 2015 Independent Games Festival, our 17th annual ceremony celebrating the best in independent games. As you read this post, we will have just begun accepting submissions for this year's festival, which will remain open until Wednesday, October 22nd for our Main Competition, and October 31st for our Student Competition.
As usual, the festival will culminate with our awards show on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015, during Game Developers Conference 2015, located at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

2015 Independent Games Festival opens call for submissions

Submissions are now officially open for the 2015 Independent Games Festival, the signature competition for indie games, to be held for a 17th year during GDC 2015 in San Francisco next March. This directly follows a record-breaking year which saw nearly 900 entries for the 2014 event, including top prizewinners like Papers, Please, Luxuria Superbia and DEVICE 6.
The deadlines for the Main and Student Showcase categories for the 17th IGF are October 22th and October 31st, 2014 respectively, with finalists announced in January 2015. Finalists' games will once again be playable at the packed IGF Pavilion on the Game Developers Conference 2015 Expo Floor, and will compete for nearly $50,000 in prizes.

Reminder: GDC Europe online registration closes tomorrow

With GDC Europe 2014 less than a week away and the session schedule finalized, we've taken the liberty of highlighting a collection of can't-miss sessions for the event.
Online registration for GDC Europe 2014 will be closed on August 6th at midnight UTC (7 PM ET). If you miss your chance to register online before the window closes, you'll have to pay extra to register onsite.
GDC Europe organizers are also offering a special last-minute deal for online registrants: you can save 10 percent on your GDC Europe 2014 pass when you register online and use the code "FINAL10" (sans quotes.)

GDC 2015 announces call for papers, new advisory board members

UBM Tech Game Network, the organizers of the Game Developers Conference 2015, are now accepting submissions to present lectures, roundtables, panels, posters and tutorials through Thursday, August 28th.
GDC 2015 is the game industry's most comprehensive and longest running professionals-only conference, where game developers meet for a week of learning, networking and inspiration. GDC 2015, the event's 28th edition, will take place March 2nd-6th at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California.
