For six years, Double Fine + iam8bit have been raising a "child" together. From infant to toddler to middle-age (we're talking dev years here!), DAY OF THE DEVS has grown up to be a well-mannered, anthropomorphized, gender neutral gathering of the greatest indie games, devs and players the universe has ever known. The original dream was to help nurture the thriving independent developer scene, providing a showcase that respectfully put the games first - more "festival chill vibes" than "convention floor frantic". The 2018 edition of Day of the Devs at GDC will provide a similar platform for choice favorite upcoming releases, each of which fulfills a robust checklist of fancy adjectives: visual beauty, charming design, poignant voices, and just plain cool games. Indulge at GDC and we promise you'll discover something rad.

We're celebrating five years of alt.ctrl.GDC in 2018! To get your cranial and actual circuits buzzing, consider that last year alt.ctrl.GDC visitors played a game of give-and-take with a re-purposed printer motor in Doggy-Tug-of-War, touched colorfully-tinted tummies to make mix and match colors in U.F.O. Bellies, crawled for their lives by pulling on a carpeted treadmill in Zombie Crawler, and revisited their childhood imaginations while titling and shooting in a cardboard box in Space Box. The alt.ctrl.GDC 2017 Award winner, Fear Sphere, was a spine-tingling inflatable escape-room that players stepped inside and illuminated with a flasthlight that doubled as a portable video projector, while another player stood outside to help guide the sphere-engulfed player to safety.
