GDC at a Glance

GDC will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, March 21-25, 2022, with a robust virtual offering online. Conference sessions will be taking place each day from 9:30 am-6:30pm PT, with select sessions available on-demand online.

This year’s conference will deliver the industry’s greatest source of content and connections—with plenty of exciting talks, sessions, and networking events. The in-person conference is strongly dedicated to health and safety, and GDC will offer virtual options to ensure anyone can access our best content remotely.

Attendees can tour the GDC Expo to check out companies’ latest products and solutions, head to the GDC Play area to try the newest indie sensations before they come out, attend career development talks about networking and building your portfolio, and so much more.

Conference Content

Summits Sessions
(Mon & Tues)

GDC Summits are deep dives into specific game dev disciplines or markets, designed to foster learning and connection among specific communities. Summit sessions provide actionable takeaways you can immediately incorporate into your career. Topics include Level Design Summit, Art Direction Summit, Open Source Game Development Summit, and more.

Core Concepts Sessions
(Weds–Fri)

The Core Concepts program focuses on six key pillars of game development: Audio, Business & Marketing, Design, Production & Team Management, Programming, and Visual Arts, along with specialty tracks like the Classic Game Postmortem series and Advocacy Sessions. Core Concepts sessions cover tried-and-true techniques, important lessons learned, and present new ways of working and thinking about game development.

Core Concepts Roundtables
(Weds–Fri)

60-minute interactive peer-to-peer discussions on open-ended topics facilitated by experienced moderators. Constructive controversy and debate are welcome. Roundtables have a limited capacity and attendance is first-come, first served.

Independent Games Summit (IGS) Content

Hear from innovative indie game creators sharing key learnings in the Independent Games Summit. Attend lectures and postmortems presented by diverse voices, including many former and current Independent Games Festival finalists and winners.

GDC Masterclass
(Mon & Tues)

The GDC Masterclass program is comprised of one day-long, small-group workshops that deliver in-depth, hands-on training around some of the most important challenges facing game developers today. These interactive courses go beyond high-level theory to provide students with individualized feedback and practical experience that can be applied directly to their work. Topics include Production & Team Management, Design, and Programming.

Networking

Virtual Meetings & Networking

With search, filtering, and AI matchmaking, GDC gives attendees access to identify, contact, request, and receive meetings with fellow attendees and sponsors via chat or video meeting.

Pass Access: All Access, Core, Summits, Audio, and IGS pass types will be able to network with exhibitors and other attendees. Expo Plus and Expo pass holders will only have access to online networking with exhibitors. Career Development pass holders will not have access to virtual meetings and networking.
