Come out to GDC Europe and learn how Cities: Skylines was made

GDC organizers are lining up some great talks for this year's big GDC Europe conference in Cologne, Germany, and today they're revealing two more excellent sessions from game industry experts for the August event.

These talks reflect a rising interest in the industry for Chinese mobile game design best practices, as well as the enduring appeal of celebrating and learning from another developer's success.

Colossal Order's Cities: Skylines was a breakout hit earlier this year, setting a new sales record for publisher Paradox Interactive, and now designer Karoliina Korppoo is making the trip to GDC Europe in August to reveal how it happened in "Cities: Skylines, A Case Study."

Make time to check out her talk and you'll learn of the unique challenges of working with a large PC game with limited resources -- as well as how design can support and take into account these challenges. Korppoo will also share "insider information" about designing tutorials, creating positive feelings for players and how to make them feel attached to their sandbox game creations.

Meanwhile, in his talk "Developing AAA Quality Mobile Games for the Chinese Market," Kabam COO Kent Wakeford will discuss how to develop AAA quality games for a truly global audience, how to choose the right partners, and how to think about the highly complex gaming market in China.

From the fragmentation of the app stores and payment systems, to the different gameplay styles that best resonate with the gamers, Kent will explore all topics to provide a comprehensive overview of what it takes to develop a successful global game.

As always, you can look forward to even more topical and cutting-edge sessions to be announced for GDC Europe 2015 in the coming weeks, and you can find more details on these and all other announced talks over on the GDC Europe Schedule Builder.

Reminder: Early birds can still register for GDC Europe 2015 by July 8th to save 200 euros on an All Access Pass! The conference itself will take place August 3rd and 4th in Cologne, Germany.

GDC Europe 2015 will also continue to offer business and matchmaking opportunities to all attendees with a developer-focused Expo Floor area and networking events throughout the show. For more information, please visit the GDC Europe website.
